Healthy and glowy skin is something we all want in life. Most people think it is impossible to achieve clear and glowy skin, but I am here to tell you that it is easy to achieve and all you have to do is practice these five habits! It really does not take that long, and you will get the results you are looking for pretty quickly.

To find out how to get your glow on. Keep reading.

1) Exfoliate your skin.

There are two ways to exfoliate your skin they are physical exfoliants and chemical exfoliants. Physical exfoliants are mainly scrubs that are gently massaged onto the skin in order to help lift off dead skin and dead skin cells. This helps reveal your new skin, making your face appear and feel fresh and glowy. You can make physical exfoliants at home! Here is a quick and easy face and body scrub you can make at home that will last for weeks and even months.

One cup of brown sugar, ½ cup honey and ¼ cup of any oil of your choice I like to use rice bran oil because it is great for anti-aging and brightening up the skin. (If you do not respond well to sugar as a physical exfoliant then you can use oats as it is more gentil on the skin).

It is best to use physical exfoliants once a week or once every two weeks. Please do not do this daily as it will irritate your skin and may cause break outs. I prefer using chemical exfoliants over physical exfoliants as chemical exfoliants are less irritating.

Chemical exfoliants use alpha hydroxy acids ( the most popular being lactic acid, glycolic acid, mandelic acid etc) to remove the skins dead cells. Like physical exfoliants these allow your skin to look and stay fresh whilst being really gentil on your skin. The best chemical exfoliant I have used is the glycolic acid from the ordinary. I would recommend that you should exfoliate your skin in the evening or in the night-time to reduce any type of irritation that may occur but please do keep in mind after you use any type of exfoliant your skin will be dry so use a really good moisturiser.

2) Incorporate a retinol into your routine.

Retinol is a very great product to add to your skincare routine if you are looking to clear breakouts, tackle aging, increase cell production, increase collogen production and promote elasticity. Studies have shown that the aging process starts at the age of twenty-five so adding a retinol into your skincare routine will be beneficial. I like to use the ordinary’s retinol products as they are less harsh on your skin compared to most retinols.

3) Incorporate a sunscreen into your skincare routine.

I can not say this enough! Adding a sunscreen into your routine will change your skincare game forever. I only just started to use sunscreen and it has really changed my skin for the better. By adding this little step to my everyday morning routine, I have seen a massive difference in my overall skin texture, brightness, and overall completion. It will also prevent you from getting skin cancer.

4) Bye bye cotton

Swapping a cotton pillowcase for a silk pillowcase is one of the easiest ways to help keep your skin glowy. Cotton is known for holding in moisture and build up which means it holds all the dirt from your clogged pores and sweat throughout the night. Cotton pillowcases can also be rough on your skin so swapping it for a silk one allows your skin to hold onto all of the good moisture during the night, allowing it to look more hydrated and moisturised. That is what gives your skin that plump and glowy skin.

5) Drink plenty of water.

I know your rolling your eyes right now. But I am going to be that person for a moment. But drinking at least one litre of water a day can really help with clearing your skin and improving your brains overall function. I know drinking water can be difficult at times, to make it easier try to keep a glass or two of water next to your bed in the morning and in the evening to encourage you to drink more water

I hope these easy daily habits will help you get the glowy skin you’re looking for. Taking some time to care for yourself and your skin will not only help you glow, but it’ll also help your mood.
